Friedrich Michael Ziegenhagen

Friedrich Michael goats Hagen (* 1694 in Pomerania, Pomerania, † January 24, 1776 in London ) was a Pietist court preacher and as the English King George I. one of the sponsors of the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge ( SPCK ).

Goats Hagen studied from April 1714 theology in Halle, where he was influenced by August Hermann Francke, and in 1717 at the University of Jena. After graduation, he accepted a position as a house preacher at Count von Platen in Linden near Hanover. In 1722 he was appointed to the German Lutheran court preacher in London, and remained there until his death.

He maintained contacts with Pietists throughout Europe and was an important liaison between the Pietists in the European countries and the mission fields in North America and India, where he supported the activities of the Danish - Halle mission. For religious reasons, goats Hagen remained unmarried.
