Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge

The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge ( SPCK ) is one of the earliest European missionary societies. This Anglican organization was founded in 1698 in London and still exists today.

With its European broadcast it was for pietism a central institution, because she combined the facilities of August Hermann Francke in Halle with the mission fields in North America (Georgia, California ) and in India ( Tranquebar ). As head of the clergy Anton Wilhelm Böhm and Michael Friedrich goats Hagen (1694-1776) gained a great importance.
