Friedrich Wessel

Friedrich " Fritz" Wessel ( born April 29, 1945 in Bonn ) is a former German foil fencer.

At the Olympic Games in 1968 Wessel difference in the individual rankings from early, with the team he finished in sixth place. In 1969 he was at the World Fencing Championships in Cuba foil world champion, a year later, he defended the title at the World Fencing Championships 1970 in Ankara successfully. At a World Cup starting in the following year he resigned in favor of his law studies. At the Olympic Games in 1972 Wessel missed in individual just the final six of the best fencers, with the team he finished fifth.

Wessel fought for the OFC Bonn, for the first time he was in 1965 German champion with the team foil. By 1972, followed by seven more tracks from 1967 including his brother Albert Wessel to the team. His only individual titles won Friedrich Wessel 1968.

The fencer Ute Wessel is the sister of Friedrich Wessel.
