Friedrich Wilhelm Kopsch

Friedrich Wilhelm Theodor Kopsch ( born March 24, 1868 in Saarbrücken, † January 24, 1955 in Berlin) was a German anatomist.

Life and work

Kopsch studied from 1888 at the Friedrich- Wilhelms-Universität Berlin medicine. He was a pupil of Hans Virchow and Heinrich Wilhelm Waldeyer. In 1892 he received his doctorate with a thesis on " iris and ciliary corpus of reptiles eye ". From 1892 to 1895 he worked as an assistant at the former Second Anatomical Institute in Berlin. He then moved to the I. Anatomical Institute of the City to Waldeyer. He habilitated there in 1898 and was a lecturer in anatomy. After his appointment as Adjunct Professor in 1908 Kopsch in 1910 and 1919 second senior assistant prosector. In 1921 he was appointed associate professor and took over the position of the first prosector. 1935 Friedrich Kopsch was appointed full professor of histology, embryology and anatomy under the direction of Hermann Stieve Institute. From 1897 Kopsch was editor of the International Monthly Journal of anatomy and physiology. The August Rauber (1841-1917) founded "Textbook and Atlas of Human Anatomy " was continued after his death by Kopsch as sole author.

Already emeritus Kopsch be presented from 1945 to 1949 as the second director besides Anton John Waldeyer again in the service of the Institute.

Friedrich Kopsch died in 1955 at the age of 86 years.
