Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Suckow

Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Suckow (* 1770 in Heidelberg, † June 21, 1838 in Mannheim, Germany ) was a German physician and naturalist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " F. W. L. Suckow ".

Life

The son of the physicist and university professor Georg Adolf Suckow studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg and in 1813 received his doctorate with a thesis on comparative morphology " Myologia insectorum ... ".

Suckow was professor of natural sciences and curator of the natural history museum in Mannheim. He has made a name for himself with his work on entomology and osteology of the whales. He has also represented the flora in the area of Mannheim in a flora.
