Frits Beukers

Frits Beukers ( born 1953 in Ankara) is a Dutch mathematician who deals with number theory.

Beukers her PhD in 1979 at Robert Tijdeman at Leiden University (The generalized Ramanujan - Nagell Equation, Acta Arithmetica Bd.38, 1980/81 ). 1979 to 1980 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study. He was then a professor in Leiden and in the 2000s at the University of Utrecht.

Beukers deals among other things with transcendence and Irrationalitätsfragen. In connection with the known evidence of Roger apery (1978 ) of the irrationality of values of the zeta function at the points 2 and 3, were Beukers an alternative proof. He also published on dynamical systems in mechanics and questions about its exact solvability.
