Fritz Joachim Weyl

Fritz Joachim Weyl, he used the name Joachim, ( born February 19, 1915 in Zurich, † July 20, 1977 ) was an American computer scientist and mathematician.

He was the son of the writer Helene Weyl and the famous mathematician Hermann Weyl, with which he in 1943 the book meromorphic functions and analytic curves published (formed from Hermann Weyl 's lectures at the Institute for Advanced Study ).

Weyl studied at Swarthmore College with a bachelor 's degree in 1935 and from Princeton University with a master's degree in 1937 and his doctorate in 1939 at Salomon Bochner ( Analytic Curves ). From 1946 he taught at the George Washington University. Later he was a professor and dean at Hunter College in New York City.

In 1989 he was awarded with Gordon D. Goldstein and other computer Pioneer Award for early work on computers at the Office of Naval Research ( 1946 ).
