Fritz Poske

Friedrich Poske ( called Fritz Poske ) ( born October 23, 1904 in Berlin, † 1 October 1984 Wachtberglifte - Niederbachem ) was a German naval officer and border guards, most recently in the rank of naval captain of the German Navy. From 1951 to 1956 he was the head of Seegrenzschutzes. He was the son of the pedagogue Friedrich Poske.

Reich and Navy

Poske joined after graduation in April 1923 as an officer candidate ( sailor FmR ( volunteer with school-leaving examination ) ) in the Empire Navy. 1927 promoted to lieutenant, he served on various surface ships and some land units. On January 1, 1939 Poske was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. At the start of the Second World War, he was navigating officer on the battleship Schlesien and then served on the light cruisers Nürnberg and Königsberg. From June to October 1940 he was commander of the minelayer Grille.

In November 1940 Poske began training for the U- boat commanders. From July 1941 to January 1943, he made 504 four patrols with the U- boat U and was honored for his achievements on November 6, 1942, the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. On 1 February 1943 he was promoted to Commander and served as commander of the 1st Submarine Training Division in pillau. On 1 October 1943, the carriage followed the Captain. As a member of Navy military duties, he fell in May 1945 in British captivity, from which he was released in March 1946.

Postwar period and Seegrenzschutz

After his release from captivity to Poske initially proposed by the artisans, boatmen, warehouse workers and a clerk before he was able to build with his wife in Bremen a coffee mail order. To prepare for this task, he was trained as a merchant agents.

In January 1951, Poske was approached by the former admirals Heye and Wagner, if he would like the structure of the Seegrenzschutzes, which might arise as part of the Federal Border Guard (BGS ), participate. After hesitant commitment he joined in May 1951 to his service in the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The Seegrenzschutz became independent from the rest of BGS 6 directly from the ministry by the newly created Unit VI C, whose head Poske was officially on 15 July 1952. First, as " Senior Staff Captain in the BGS" set which corresponded to a lieutenant colonel in the rest of BGS, he received on October 1, 1953 the rank of " captain in the BGS" ( Colonel ). Poske remained until the dissolution of Seegrenzschutzes and his transfer to the Federal Navy on July 1, 1956 as Head.

Federal Marine

Upon dissolution of the Seegrenzschutzes whose staff was taken over almost closed in the German navy. As a staff officer to Poske had to present to the staff review committee, the soldiers that were provided for the setting with the rank of colonel on up, had to examine their personal suitability. Poske took up his duties on 1 July 1956 at the Joint Staff of the Navy and headed there first the household later the Organization Unit. On November 1, 1960, he became Chief of Staff to the command of the naval base and went from there on March 31, 1963 in retirement.

Retirement

After retirement, Poske went to an industrial activity until 1972. He also became involved in local politics and was until 1979 a member of the municipal council in Wachtberglifte - Niederbachem.
