FRÖSI

Frösi is the name of a children's magazine that was published in the GDR in the publishing world boy. She was the magazine for members of the Pioneer organization Ernst Thalmann.

Name Explanation

The name derives Frösi ( be joyful and sing ) from the starting line of the then-known pioneer song by Hans Naumilkat from. Be glad and sing was initially the full title, from 1965, the short form was introduced.

Chronicle and contents up to 1990

On June 25, 1953, the first edition of Frösi appeared with a greeting of the former FDJ boss Erich Honecker. The 32 - to 40-page booklet came out in 1956 on a monthly basis (before every six weeks ), the maximum circulation was about 600,000. The selling price was 70 cents.

Development after the turn

After a name change in tandem in 1990, the magazine was set with the settlement of the publisher Young World by the Trust in March 1991.

In June 2002, a single issue published as a supplement to a weekend edition of the New Germany as an attempt to revive the Frösi as a magazine for children. After numerous delays, the Frösi appeared from May 2005 as a monthly 32-page A4 magazine for children from 8 to 12 years with an initial print run of 70,000 copies at a price of 2.10 euros again. The magazine was discontinued in November 2005. Reasons were a slump in sales and related financial difficulties.
