Fruko y sus Tesos

Fruko y sus Tesos is a Colombian salsa group.

The group was founded in 1970 by the composer, producer and singer Julio Ernesto Estrada ( b. 1951 ). He had previously witnessed the evolution of salsa in New York and founded upon his return to Colombia Fruko y sus Tesos modeled after the Fania All-Stars, one of the leading salsa groups this time. The first record was called Tesuro, but was not very successful. After a few more plates but the group was very well known and ausente songs such as El, El caminante, Manyoma and El preso are among the salsa classics.

Starting in 1973, was also a native of Cartagena Joe Arroyo for some years a member of Fruko y sus Tesos.
