Fryderyk Chopin (ship)

Fryderyk Chopin, 2011 Madeira

The Fryderyk Chopin is a brig built in 1992 steel. It was launched in 1989 on the Dora shipyard in Gdynia and put into service in March 1992; the designer is Zygmunt choirs. The sailor combines the best features of a square-rigger with those of a racing yacht. She was successful in various regattas and attended many international events such as the Kiel Week or the Hanse Sail in Rostock.

From 1992 to 1996 she ran for the " International Class Afloat Foundation", which offers young people the opportunity to gain valuable experience by sailing for life and adventure at sea.

Today it is part of the European School of Law and Administration in Warsaw.

Accident with Riggverlust

During a hurricane storm southwest of the Silly Islands, the Fryderyk Chopin lost its two masts in the fall of 2010. It began with the foremast, which fell first. Later also broke the second mast. The Fryderyk Chopin set off a Notrauf and was eventually taken off the British coast guard at wind force 9 in tow. There are no crew members come to harm.
