Fryeburg Academy

The Fryeburg Academy is a private school in the United States who are established in Fryeburg ( in Oxford County, Maine state ). It was founded in 1792 and is one of the oldest private schools in the country. The Fryeburg Academy is recognized for the School District 72 in Maine as an official high school. At the school, which is ideologically footloose, not only students from the U.S., but also from other countries can enroll; many come from the nearby Canada, and some from Europe, Asia and Africa. A traditional focus of education is to prepare for the training of teachers at Bowdoin College.

  • Daniel Webster, politician ( U.S. Secretary of State ): he was one of the first presidents of Fryeburg Academy and taught there for a year.
