Scientific American

Scientific American (abbreviated to SciAm ) is one of the oldest and most respected popular science magazines. It was founded by Rufus Porter and published monthly since August 28, 1845 in the United States.

Initially employed the magazine with new patents that were filed in the United States. Later they turned to scientific work, editorial appropriately processed, are presented to the general public to understand.

1986 Scientific American was sold to the publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck.

Seventh chief editor (English editor -in- chief) from 1994 to 2009 was John Rennie; since then passes Mariette DiChristina the magazine.

Since 1978 there is a German edition of Scientific American entitled spectrum of science.

Scientific American Supplement

Between 1876 and 1919, the Scientific American published a weekly edition.
