Frygnowo

Frygnowo ( German Frögenau ) is a village in the powiat Ostródzki in the Warmia - Mazury. It is in close proximity to the village of Grunwald ( green field ), about 22 km from Ostróda and 41 km from Olsztyn.

History

The village in the German literature became famous because here Paul von Hindenburg had with his staff of the 8th Army on August 28 and 29, 1914 during the Battle of Tannenberg, the German troops. On the so-called Feldherrnhügel of Frögenau a memorial was later built.
