Fryxell (crater)

17.62

Fryxell is a small impact crater that lies in the middle of the western inner ring of the Montes Rook on the back of the moon. He is occasionally visible due to its remoteness from the Earth through the libration, but can even be considered under optimal observation conditions only as a side view of the middle of a rugged mountain chain.

The crater is essentially circular, but appears slightly polygonal. Its bowl shape with a darker crater floor shows hardly any abnormalities. Since the crater interior walls have a higher albedo than the surrounding landscape, they appear relatively bright

Marriage Fryxell in 1985 by the International Astronomical Union was assigned a unique name (IAU ), he was known as a satellite crater of Golitsyn named Golitsyn B.
