Funcinpec Party

The Front Uni National pour un Cambodge Indépendant, Neutre, Pacifique, et Coopératif (on German National United Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia ), short FUNCINPEC is a royalist Cambodian party and formed together with the Cambodian People's Party (KPK ) to March 2006, the coalition government in Cambodia. In the 2003 elections the party scored 20.8% of the votes cast and thus received 26 out of 123 parliamentary seats.

Its origins go back to the former king of Cambodia, Norodom Sihanouk. Until October 18, 2006 was his second eldest son, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, the party chairman, his successor is the former Secretary General Bun Chhay Nhiek who wants to continue the coalition with the KPK. During the 1980s, the party was part of the political and armed resistance against the used of Vietnam government at that time.

Today, the party is committed to a free market economy and a neutral Cambodia.
