Funcrusher Plus
Funcrusher Plus is the debut album of American hip- hop group Company Flow. It was released on 28 July 1997 on the music label Rawkus Records.
History
Funcrusher Plus is an extension of the published 1996 Official Recordings Funcrusher EP. Seven of the eight to be found on the EP tracks can also be found on the album again. As Singles 8 Steps to Perfection, blind and info Kill, which does not, however, is on the album appeared. The album is considered the first underground hip- hop album, as it has a completely new, hitherto unknown sound. Due to the huge popularity of the album in New York's underground to Rawkus Records largest underground hip- hop label of the USA became the first and for a long time. Shortly after the album's release Bigg Jus left the group and the follow-up album Little Johnny from the Hospitul: Breaks & Instrumentals Vol 1 was released in 1999 without him. In 2000 founded Member El -P his own label Definitive Jux (then Def Jux ), over which was published in 2009 a revised version of Funcrusher Plus.
Reception
Because of new, edgy, minimalist sounds and complex texts about hip -hop traditions, Battle Rap and conspiracy album is seen as a cornerstone of underground rap. Then as now, it was equally well received by fans and critics and chosen as the classics. Allmusic awarded the Höchpunktzahl of five stars and the album was included in the list of the 100 best albums of the nineties years of Pitchfork Media.
