Füruzan

Füruzan ( born 29 October 1935 in İstanbul; actually Füruzan Selçuk ) is one of the most famous writers of Turkey.

Selçuk's father died early; their education they could not complete. Since 1956, she writes short stories published in various magazines. In the same year she married the Turkish cartoonist Turhan Selçuk.

Under her name, she published since 1968. Followed novels. Her works revolve again and again to the poor, women and children.

In 1975, she came as a guest of the DAAD Berlin Artists Programme to Germany, where she remained until 1981 and wrote reports on the lives of Turkish migrant workers.

Honors

For her work she has received several prizes: the Sait Faik Prize ( 1971) and the price of the Turkish Türk Dil Kurumu Linguistic Society 1975.
