Bafut ( proper name Fut ) is an eastern grasslands language within the bantoiden languages ​​, which is related to the language Bamun.

Bafut and the other bantoiden languages ​​belong to the Niger -Congo language family. The oral tradition of language records the dynastic roots to the Ndobo or Tikari - areas. It is spoken by the people of Bafut Subdivision, Tuba, in the Division of Mezam and in the Division of Metchum in the North-West Province.

The Bafut language was the official language of the Kingdom of Bafut. It was verschriftlicht of their spokesman Joseph Mfonyam in 1982 and is therefore listed in SIL International. Since then, some literature, especially the New Testament in 2000, was translated in Bafut.
