Gabriel Kuhn

Gabriel Kuhn (born 1972 in Innsbruck ) is a writer and author of books that deal with poststructuralism and anarchism. He published works in English and German.

Life and thought

Gabriel Kuhn grew up in different countries. Among others, Turkey, England and the USA After studying philosophy in Austria and the U.S., he lived in the Middle East and the South Pacific islands, before returning to the United States. Since 2005 he lives mainly in Sweden.

Kuhn grapples mainly with the philosophical mindset of post-structuralism. His work is much influenced by classical anarchism and the Anglo-American Cultural Studies. He pursues the aim to bring theory into concrete reference to practice and to understand as an aspect of his political activity. On the basis of anarchist concepts he refers to solidarity approaches away from oppression. His writings are mainly aimed at activists and scholars in left and left-wing contexts.

In January 2010, Kuhn was forced to cancel a lecture tour in the United States since he was granted entry permit.

Activity

Politically active is Kuhn since 1989. Early 1990s, he worked for several years in TATblatt collective, Innsbruck and has published in the anarchist Viennese publisher Monte Verità, including life under the skull. Anarchism and piracy, 1994. This text appeared in English translation as part of the book Women Pirates and the Politics of the Jolly Roger in Canada ( Montreal ), 1997. 1999 he was a co-founder of the publishing project Alpine Anarchist Productions ( AAP) and developed to their most active writers.
