Gabriele Giordano Caccia

Gabriele Giordano Caccia ( born February 24, 1958 in Milan, Italy) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican Diplomat.

Life

Gabriele Caccia received on June 11, 1983 by Carlo Maria Cardinal Martini, SJ, the sacrament of Holy Orders and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Milan. Subsequently, he worked there until 1986 as pastor. He was then released for postgraduate studies at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, where he earned a licentiate in canon law. In 1991 he was at the Pontifical Gregorian University with a dissertation entitled "Faith and its object, Training in Christianity ' by Søren Kierkegaard " Dr. theol. doctorate.

On 1 June 1991 he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See and was first assistant at the Apostolic Nunciature in Tanzania. Pope John Paul II granted him on 24 July 1992 the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). Since July 11, 1993 Caccia staff was in the office of substitutes in the Section of General Affairs in the Vatican Secretariat of State. On 17 December 2002 he was appointed by John Paul II to the Assessor for General Affairs and appointed on the same day as Honorary Prelate of His Holiness. In addition, he was a member of the Disciplinary Commission of the Roman Curia.

On 16 July 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Sepino and Apostolic Nuncio in Lebanon. He received his episcopal consecration Benedict XVI. on 12 September of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica; Co-consecrators Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB were and the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal William Joseph Levada.
