Gaius Cassius Longinus (consul 96 BC)

Gaius Cassius Longinus was a Roman politician of the late Republic.

His career ( Cursus honorum ), which he began as a master of the mint about 126 BC, suffered a temporary setback when his application failed to the tribune. No later than 99 BC he succeeded, however, to be praetor, and 96 BC he was consul. 87 BC he was to take a decision of the Senate in command of the Army of the diseased proconsul Gnaeus Pompeius Strabo in the fight against Gaius Marius.
