Galaxidi (Greek Γαλαξίδι until 1940 Γαλαξείδιον (n. sg. ) ) Is a small town in the municipality of Delphi in central Greece. The town is located southwest of the Oracle of Delphi, south of Amfissa and southwest of Itea in a bay of the Gulf of Corinth. By 2010 Galaxidi formed an independent municipality in the prefecture of Phocis and was incorporated in 2011 to Delphi, where it has since formed one of nine municipal districts.

In ancient times the island was called Oiantheia ( ancient Greek Οἰάνθεια ) or Oianthē ( Οἰάνθη ) and was even then famous for its beauty. Importance and prosperity reached Galaxidi in the 18th and 19th centuries.

During that time, was Galaxidi seat of the most powerful merchant fleets in the Mediterranean. The witnesses to this heyday, the typical captain's houses, are still preserved and can be obtained and maintained by the often direct descendants. On the hill between the two ports of Galaxidi two magnificent churches rise from the 18th century.

Since 1995 there has been above Galaxidi, in the district Keramou, a community in which people live with various physical and mental disabilities, work and spend their free time together. The so-called " Estia Agios Nikolaos " thus trying to enable interaction - lives of different people. Model for this German - Greek initiative is the community eV in Sassen / Germany. Galaxidi is also known for the annual battle flour (Greek αλευρομουτσούρεμα, alevromutsurema ) at Kathara Devtera (Greek Καθαρά Δευτέρα ), the Monday of the Orthodox carnival, with which Lent has begun.
