Company History

Galderma was founded in 1981 as a joint venture between Nestlé and L' Oréal. Seven years later, the joint venture acquired the dermatological areas of Alcon, which was acquired by Nestlé in 1977. In 1995, Galderma Differin Acne therapy with the (active ingredient adapalene ), the first self-developed drugs to market. The Basotherm GmbH, a subsidiary of Boehringer Ingelheim was acquired in 1997.
