Galgate

Galgate is a place in Lancashire, England. The lies just 5 km south of the city of Lancaster, and exactly at the southern end of the campus of Lancaster University.

From the 1830s to 1971 was spun Galgate Silk. English Heritage now leads the building of two of these mills as grade II -listed -building. The one spinning mill was rebuilt in 1830 by a water-driven corn mill to his mill and put into operation a 1971, the other company was built in 1852 as a spinning and is now used as a warehouse.

The River Conder is passed in Galgate under the Lancaster Canal, where there is a port for the canal boats here.

The town had a railway station until 1939, which was founded as Lancaster and Preston Junction Railway railway line, now runs the West Coast Main Line without a stop by the site and the nearest station is located in Lancaster.
