Galla Gaulo

Galla Galla Lupanio or Gaulio was according to tradition the fifth Doge of Venice. He reigned from 755 to 756

Galla contributes to the scant sources that mention him the unflattering nickname infedelis ( the good ones) or vir sceleratissimus ( the Unscrupulous ).

Galla, who had been considered a friend of his predecessor Diodato, used in a phase of unknown power relations between the Franks and the Lombards the opportunity to distribute the rightful Doge and to usurp the rule of Venice, but was only a few months past its part of the King of the Lombards, Desiderio distributed. His birth and date of his death are not known.
