Gallatin River

The Gallatin River is a river in the U.S. states of Wyoming and Montana. He is the first tributary of the Missouri River.

The Gallatin River is 193 km long and has its source in Gallatin Lake southwest of the Antler Peak ( 3,055 meters) in the north- west of Yellowstone National Park in the Rocky Mountains in the state of Wyoming.

It flows northwest through the Gallatin National Forest and past Big Sky. It flows in the Missouri Headwaters State Park at wThree Forks in Missouri.

Lewis and Clark named 1805 the Gallatin River in honor of the then Finance Minister of the United States Albert Gallatin.
