Galleria Umberto I

The Galleria Umberto I is a shopping arcade in the old town of Naples.

It is covered by a large glass dome and is located directly opposite the world- famous opera house, Teatro San Carlo. The gallery was built in the years 1887 to 1890 according to plans by Emmanuele Rocco and Ernesto di Mauro and was part of the urban renewal after the cholera epidemic of 1884. Passage consists of two crossing arms, which have been roofed with a barrel-shaped glass roof.
