γ Cassiopeiae (Gamma Cassiopeiae, short γ Cas ) is an eruptive variable star of type Be star, whose apparent visual magnitude in the course of a few decades irregularly between 1.6 and 3.4 might like varies. Currently ( 2009) the star has a brightness of 2.15 mag. It belongs to the spectral class B0 and is about 550 light years away.

The star bears the proper name Tsih (also Cih, from Chinese ).

Trivia

The occasionally encountered name Navi for this star is of modern origin and goes to a joke made by the Apollo astronauts Virgil " Gus" Grissom back, the names of the Apollo 1 crew as " Navi" ( for Virgil Ivan Grissom ), " Dnoces " ( for Edward H. White the second) and " Regor " ( Roger Chaffee ) smuggled to a list of navigation stars.
