Gamma Cephei Ab

Gamma Cephei Ab is a exoplanet orbiting the star Gamma Cephei A with an orbital period of about 900 days. The semi-major axis is approximately 2 astronomical units and the minimum mass of 1.6 Jupiter masses.

In 1988, the discovery of Gamma Cephei Ab was announced by a Canadian team, but was later withdrawn because the data material did not allow reliable detection. The discovery was confirmed in 2002 by William D. Cochran and Artie P. Hatzes. In both cases the radial velocity method had been applied.
