Gamma Doradus

Gamma Doradus is a main sequence star of spectral type F0 and the third brightest star in the constellation swordfish (Latin Dorado ). It is located at a distance of about 67 light-years and has an apparent magnitude of about 4.3 mag. The star is not in a binary system or a multiple system, as about half of all stars in our Milky Way.

Gamma Doradus is a Pulsationsveränderlicher star. It pulsates non- radially in two coupled sine period parts of 17.5 and 18.1 hours. Gamma Doradus is the prototype and namesake of the Gamma Doradus variables.
