Gane Todorovski

Gane Todorovski (Cyrillic: Гане Тодоровски; born May 11, 1929 in Skopje, † May 22, 2010 ) was a Macedonian poet, translator, literary scholar and diplomat.

Life

Todorovski studied at the University of Skopje and in 1951 published his first book of poems Во утрините (Vo utrinite, dt: in the morning ). He received his doctorate with a thesis on the Veda Slovena, a published in the 19th century, however, may not be authentic collection of folk songs and legends bulgarischsprachiger Muslims. He then worked as a journalist for the Yugoslav news agency Tanjug and several magazines. Finally, he became professor of Macedonian and Croatian literary history of the 19th century at the University of Skopje. He has published more books of poetry as well as scientific publications and was editor of the magazine Literatura Mlada (boy literature). He was also the editor of several anthologies of poems foreign-language authors. In the years 1969-1971 and 1985/86 he was president of the Macedonian Writers' Association. He has received numerous awards and was a member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Gane Todorovski was the first Macedonian Ambassador to Russia.
