Gansbaai ( Goose Bay also, German: " Goose Bay ") is a town in the municipality over the beach, district Overberg, Western Cape Province in South Africa. The city is located 170 km east of Cape Town in 35 meters height on the shore of Walker Bay.

History

Gansbaai was founded in 1881 by fishermen and named after the numerous there occurring wild geese. By the end of the 20th century was still a fishing village of Gansbaai. By Hai tourism, the population increased from 1,491 (1970 ) to 11,598 (2011) has grown. These come in the holiday season of 22,000 tourists.
