Garagoumsa is a rural municipality in the Department Takeita in Niger.

Geography

Garagoumsa lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Ourafane in the north, Tirmini in the east, in the southeast Ichirnawa, Kantché in the south, southwest and Maïjirgui Korgom in the west. The municipality is divided into 44 administrative villages, two traditional villages, 28 hamlets and a warehouse. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Takeita (also: Takeïta, Takieta, Takiéta ).

The 6720 hectare Forêt de classée Takeita and the 1840 hectare Forêt de classée Kongome are two nature reserve forest areas in the municipality of Garagoumsa. The protected status of the first in 1950, the second in 1952.

History

In Takeita an administrative post in 1988 ( post administratif ) set up, one from a chef de poste administratif headed lower administrative unit. The rural community Garagoumsa went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Garagoumsa. The administrative posts of Takeita was removed in 2011 from the Department Mirriah and collected at the Department Takeita.

Population

At the 2001 census Garagoumsa had 45 828 inhabitants. For the year 2010 62.220 inhabitants were calculated. In Garagoumsa members of the mainly Agropastoralismus operated Tuareg subgroups Mikitan and Tafazarak live.

Economy and infrastructure

Garagoumsa is located on the National Highway 1, which connects the village to the regional capital of Zinder, and on the national road leading to the border with Nigeria 10
