Ourafane

Ourafane (also: Ourofane ) is a rural municipality in the Department Tessaoua in Niger.

Geography

Ourafane lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Falenko in the north, Tirmini in the east, in the southeast Garagoumsa, Baoudetta in the south, southwest and Issawane in El Allassane Maïreyrey in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 73 administrative villages, 111 traditional villages, 85 hamlets and three camps. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Ourafane.

History

The French colonial administration set up in the early 20th century, a canton in Ourafane in order to limit the influence of the Tuareg in the region. 2002 emerged the rural community Ourafane as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Ourafane.

Population

At the 2001 census Ourafane had 88,900 inhabitants. For the year 2010 120.151 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is situated on the southern edge of a zone is operated in the Agropastoralismus.
