Koona is a rural municipality in the Department Tessaoua in Niger.
Geography
Koona is located at the junction of Great Landscape Sudan Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Baoudetta in the north, Korgom in the east, the south and Gazaoua Maïjirgui in the West. The municipality is divided into four administrative villages, seven traditional villages and hamlets ten. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Koona.
History
The French colonial administration set up in the early 20th century, a canton in Koona one, which was disbanded in 1923 and joined the Canton Korgom. 2002 Koona was spun off as part of a nationwide administrative reform as an independent country church again Korgom.
Population
In the 2011 census Koona had 10,990 inhabitants. For the year 2010 14.853 inhabitants were calculated.
