Garðar Thór Cortes

Gardar Thór Cortes ( born 2 May 1974 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic tenor and actor. The German-speaking public, he is best known as Nonni in the ZDF series Nonni and Manni Christmas of 1988.

Biography

Garðar comes from a very musical family, his mother is a pianist, his father is a well-known tenor and conductor and co-founder of the Icelandic Opera. At the age of 13 years Garðar already gained television experience in the ZDF series Nonni and Manni Christmas, a real acting career he did not seek, however, to. His passion was and is the music.

  • 1993 to 1997 he studied at the music college of his father Reykjavik School of Singing Singing
  • 1997-1998 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna vocals and cornet
  • Private lessons with Professor André Orlowitz in Copenhagen
  • 2000-2002 Studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

With his tenor voice, it covers an extensive area from opera to oratorio, musicals and pop music. But his first love is classical music, especially opera.
