Gardena Ronda Express

The funicular Gardena Ronda Express is located in Val Gardena in South Tyrol (Italy). The route runs entirely underground near the town center of St. Christina, however, in the municipality of Selva, and overcomes a difference in altitude of 142 m. At a speed of up to 36 km / h and an average slope of 11.5 % up to 2,000 people per hour and direction of travel can be transported.

The base station is located in Ruacia, the hill station in Tschisles Valley. The web thus combines two major ski areas, namely Seceda Col Raiser in the north and in the south Ciampinoi. Initial ideas for the web, there were already 1990. According to a route change for the benefit of local residents in 2003 started the construction work. The entire railway technology was supplied by the leading in the market segment in South Tyrol Leitner AG.

The construction of the railway runs after the Val Gardena railway was discontinued in 1960, after more than forty years back a rail- car in Val Gardena. In 2010, a second funicular railway in Val Gardena, the Raschötzer train was set in St. Ulrich in operation.
