Gardiner is a town in Kennebec County of the U.S. state of Maine. According to the 2010 U.S. census, the village has 5,800 inhabitants.

Gardiner is located at the confluence of the stream with the Cobbosseecontee navigable Kennebec River and was originally a part of Pittston. 1804 Gardiner became independent, then under the name Cobbossee Plantation, mostly owned by a Dr. Sylvester Gardiner of Boston, who created the basis for the settlement with the construction of a sawmill.
