Gareth Llewellyn

Gareth Owen Llewellyn ( born February 27, 1969 in Cardiff ) is a former Welsh rugby union player who was used as a second row forward. He spent 15 years active for the Welsh national team.

Llewellyn was 1989, his international debut against the All Blacks. By 1998, he was more consistent part of the Welsh selection until he moved to the Harlequins to England. In 2001 he returned to his hometown club Neath RFC back to Wales and was also considered for the national team again. In November 2004, he was employed for the last time, as in his debut was the opponent New Zealand. With the Six Nations 2005, he was still in the squad, but came to no further use. At this time he was his country's most capped player. He participated in three World Cups (1995, 1999, 2003 ) and was a seven- time captain of the Welsh national team.

2003 Llewellyn played briefly for the Ospreys before joining the RC Narbonne in France. After the rise of Bristol Shoguns he was transferred to this team. In 2008 he moved at the age of 39 years to unterklassigen Welsh club Tonmawr RFC, where he was an active season and partly also led the training. Since the 2009/10 season he coached the Thornbury RFC.
