Gärtner (crater)

Gardener is an impact crater on the moon. It is located south of Democritus, is heavily eroded, largely leveled in the southwestern part and flooded the interior of the adjacent southern Mare Frigoris. Inside the moon groove Rima gardener runs from the secondary craters gardeners D in northeastern direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the German astronomer Christian gardener. The name first appeared in the Selenotopographische fragments of Johann Hieronymus Schroeter.
