Gary Lockwood
Gary Lockwood ( born February 21, 1937 in Van Nuys, California, as John Gary Yusolfsky ) is an American actor.
Biography
Gary Lockwood began his career as a stuntman and stand-in for Anthony Perkins before The man with the golden Colts ( Original: Warlock ) made his first appearance in a minor role as a band member in the Western had in 1959.
Very soon Lockwood received offers for permanent roles in television series: The first was from 1961 to 1962 the figure of Eric Jason in Follow the Sun, a Hawaii - series from ABC. He played a research staff for the main characters, two writers for an adventure magazine in Honolulu.
In this role he was to see little, mainly because the series revolved around the two main characters, played by Brett Halsey and Barry Coe. The show was canceled after one season.
The second recurring role that got Gary Lockwood, was the title role in the NBC series The Lieutenant von 1963 to 1964. He played in the Second Lieutenant William (Bill) Rice. The series about the United States Marine Corps in peacetime was produced by the later Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and Norman Felton, who later solo for Oncel (English Man from U.N.C.L.E. ) produced. Lockwood's co-star was Robert Vaughn, of Rice's immediate supervisor Captain Rambridge played. This series was canceled after one season.
Lockwood was hired as a known series Star for the second pilot, Where No Man Has Gone Before by Starship Enterprise, where he played the Lt.. Commander Gary Mitchell. This pilot episode was aired as the third episode of the series tip of the iceberg.
Another occurrence as a series guest star, there were in the series Love, American Style on the side of Stefanie Powers, with whom he was married from 1966 to 1972. He was married a second time with Hope Harrsen. In his third marriage, he was romantically involved with Denise DuBarry 1982-1988.
But his most famous role is that of the astronaut Dr. Frank Poole in 2001: A Space Odyssey (English A Space Odyssey ) by 1968.
Between 1959 and 2006, Gary Lockwood has performed in over 40 theatrical and television productions and had nearly 80 guest appearances on television, including the series Gunsmoke, Mission: Impossible take, MacGyver, Hart to Hart, Murder, She Wrote and in Serie A Fall Guy. He also acted under the pseudonym Gary Yurosek.
