Gasometer (Vienna U-Bahn)

The underground station Gasometer Vienna's U -Bahn line U3 is in the 11th district of Vienna Simmering. Namesake, the Gasometer Vienna of gas works, which were opened in 1896 and served until 1984, its original purpose. Between 1999 and 2001, this monument to industrialization was revitalized and with apartments, a dormitory, a shopping center, the Municipal and Provincial Archives, the Concert Hall Bank Austria Halle and a large cinema facilities. The station was opened as part of the release of the fifth and so far last section of the U3 on 2 December 2000.

In the original planning for the Simmering branch of the U3 from the 1990s, this station was not provided and was only inserted at a later stage after the Gasometer Ideas Competition 1995. It has two side platforms and is the only station on a new line only one output. This has next to stairs and an elevator and an escalator ( up only ). It is possible to switch to the bus line 72A toward Hasenleitengasse.
