Gaston Franco

Gaston Franco ( born February 4, 1944 in Roquebillière, Alpes- Maritimes ) is a French politician of the Union pour un mouvement populaire ( UPM ).

Life

Franco studied political science. From 1985 to 2008 he was a member of the General Council of the department of Alpes- Maritimes firm and served from 1991 to 1994 in this capacity as Vice President. Since 1989 he has been mayor of Saint -Martin- Vésubie in Vésubie Valley. From 1993 to 1997 Franco was the Rassemblement pour la République member of the French National Assembly. After that, he was from 1998 to 2008 Director General of the Tourist Office of Nice. From 2005 to 2008 he belonged to the Board of Directors of the Mercantour National Park and held, inter alia, the post of chairman. Franco is since 2009 Member of the European Parliament. As such, Franco member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council. As deputy Franco is the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety; in the Delegation for relations with Canada, and the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly and the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union shall act for the Mediterranean.

He is also a member of the Regional Council of Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur region since 2010.

Franco is the recipient of the Order of St. Charles.
