Gauzelin of Toul

Gauzlin († September 7 962) was Bishop of Toul from 922 until his death. He was a member of the law firm of King Charles the Simple and founder of the Abbey Bouxières -aux -Dames.

Life

Gauzlin came from the nobility probably the Bassigny in whose noble family his name is frequently represented. He also is likely to be related to the Bishop of Langres Gauzlin ( 922-931 ), and thus also the other bishops of this diocese. In the years 913-922 he is attested as a notary in the law firm of King Charles, from where he moved to the bishop's throne in Toul, he was ordained on March 17, 922

At the time of establishment of the Lorraine Toul belonged to the West Frankish kingdom.
