Gavleån

Gavleån in Gavle

The Gavleån, also Gävleån is a river in Sweden. It forms the outlet of the lake large lake, from which it flows approximately 21 kilometers to the east and ends in the city of Gävle in the Gulf of Bothnia.

The Gävleån has an average discharge of 21 m³ / s, which can increase tenfold when the snow melts in the spring.

The Gävleån was known as one of the richest in crayfish waters in Sweden, but in 1990 eliminated an unknown illness the whole stock. A renewal of the stock seems unlikely after the illegal suspension of signal crayfish.
