Geissler (crater)

Geissler is an impact crater on the eastern limb of the Moon front page. The bowl-shaped crater lies within the crater level of Gilbert, west of Mare Smythii.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1976 after the German physicist Heinrich Geissler. Previously, the crater was named Gilbert D.
