Geistliches Konzert

As a spiritual concert is called a large proportion of shorter sacred music works of the 17th century. Tighter forms like the cantata were at that time still in the development phase.

The stylistic and formal roots of the clergy concert are on the one hand in the monody, on the other hand, in the traditional motet.

Among the composers of such works include Heinrich Schütz, Samuel Scheidt and Dietrich Buxtehude.
