Gemer

Gemer (Slovak Gemer, Hungarian Gömör ) is the name of a landscape in Slovakia.

The area lies almost entirely in today's southern Slovakia, a small portion is located in northern Hungary, the Slovak name " Gemer " is now used as an unofficial name given to this area and as the official designation of a tourist region.

The tourism Gemer (Slovak Gemerský región cestovného ruchu ) extends over the districts of:

  • Rimavská Sobota
  • Revúca
  • Rožňava (except the two communities Dedinky and Stratená )

Until 1802 Gemer was also the name of a county, this was then combined with the small Hont county to county Gemer and small Hont.
