Gene Cole

Gene Cole (actually Gerrard Eugene Cole, born December 18, 1928 in New Lexington, Ohio ) is a retired American sprinter who specialized track was the 400-meter distance.

In 1952 he finished fifth at the U.S. Championships and second at the national qualifying heats for the Olympic Games in Helsinki.

There he reached the semifinals in singles competition. In the 4 x 400 - meter relay team, he was part of the U.S. team that won the silver medal in 3:04,0 min in the cast Ollie Matson, Cole, Charles Moore and Mal Whitfield, 0.1s behind the Jamaican relay, which set a world record.
